I will teach you…

Two wide eyes looking at the world, with attention and not fearing.
I will teach to play with the wind, I will teach you to never lie, I will teach you not to hurt anyone.
And then I will look into your dreamy eyes to keep on loving and hoping.
I will teach you that you have to know what suffering means if you want to understand what real happiness is.
And then I will look into your dreamy eyes to keep on loving and hoping.

This is a lullaby. I heard it for the first time when I was a child and it accompanied me since now. I hum it frequently when I’m sad because it gives me hope. I can imagine this child’s wide eyes looking at his mother with trust, holding her hand and knowing he’s safe. And I can imagine the mother, looking at her child and knowing he’s innocent, loving, full of hopes for the future. And that gives her hope to and the strenght to go on.

Maybe that’s why I love so much being around children… I look at them, at their enthusiasm, at their simple world, at their innocence and they remind me all the hopes I had when I was a child too, when all was warm and peaceful. That gives me the strenght to keep on fighting. To keep on loving, and hoping.
